About

Brooke Fire Safety Association, Inc., more commonly known as the Brooke Volunteer Fire Department, was established in 1963 and serves as a vital component of the combined (career and volunteer) Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department. The department provides comprehensive fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), and rescue operations to both the local community and the greater Northern Virginia area as a member of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG).
Operating under the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department, Brooke is a hybrid volunteer/career station, staffed 24/7 by a combination of dedicated volunteers and career personnel. The department's apparatus includes Engine 5, Tanker 5, Brush 5, Marine Support Unit 5, Utility 5, Boat 5, Zodiac 5, Ambulance 5, and Medic 5, enabling us to respond effectively to various emergencies.
The department's roots trace back to a significant forest fire in 1963 that highlighted the need for local fire protection. In response, a group of community members formed the Brooke Fire Safety Association, leading to the construction of the first firehouse. Over the years, the station has expanded and modernized to meet the growing needs of the community. Looking ahead, plans are underway to rebuild the current station, with an estimated project funding of over $11 million, anticipated to begin in fiscal year 2025 . This initiative underscores the department's commitment to providing safe and efficient public safety services to the residents of Stafford County.
